Setting the Stage: Furnishing our Historic Exhibition Buildings at Colonial Williamsburg
Join Amanda Keller, Associate Curator of Historic Interiors, to explore the work that goes into making our historic exhibition buildings come to life.
In order to accurately tell the stories of the past, we stage the interiors to look like someone may have just walked out of the room.
Keller will highlight some of the more recent installations she has done in the historic houses like Washington’s Headquarters at the Wythe House, the Wedding of Martha Everard at the Everard House, and Wetherburn’s 1752 Subscription Ball.
This talk will explore how we do the research to know what objects to highlight in the buildings but also how we source high quality reproductions to stage the homes.
