BOARD OF DIRECTORS 

The mission of the Williamsburg Area Association of REALTORS'® Board of Director's is to serve its members by providing the necessary framework for professionalism and success.
Number of Members: 9
Meeting Requirement: Approximately 12x/year. 
Elected into office. 

BUDGET AND FINANCE

The Budget and Finance Committee prepares budgets for both the Association and Multiple Listing Service Corporations for the following fiscal year. As per the bylaws, the proposed fiscal budget of each corporation is approved by the respective Boards of Directors.

Meeting Requirement: Approximately 1 to 2x/year. 
Appointed by leadership. 

 AFFILIATE COUNCIL

Conducts an Education Summit and Affiliate Marketing event(s) for the purpose of promoting Affiliate members and generating non-dues revenue; seeks community, civic and business participation in the Association events; promotes and encourages participation in the Affiliate Marketing Program (AMP).
Number of Members: 9-10
Meeting Requirement: Approximately 4 to 6x/year. 
Appointed by leadership. 

OUTREACH

Promotes membership involvement in the community through community revitalization projects and community outreach programs as approved by the Board of Directors.

Meeting Requirement: Approximately 4 to 6x/year. 
Appointed by leadership. 

DATA & TECHNOLOGY

Recommends new technology to the WMLS BOD and Commonwealth MLS Co-Op as necessary.
Number of Members: 8-9
Meeting Requirement: Approximately 4x/year. 
Appointed by leadership. 

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Responsible for oversight of general course development throughout the year and for the Education Summit & Affiliate Marketing event; offer new member orientation programs, Code of Ethics required courses, basic & intermediate WMLS software courses; conduct an annual training session for all WAAR Real Estate School instructors.
Number of Members: 9
Meeting Requirement: Approximately 4 to 6x/year. 
Appointed by leadership. 

SPECIAL EVENTS (GOLF)

Plans and conducts an annual golf tournament; when possible, recruits representatives from the governing bodies of the Association’s jurisdictions to participate in the tournament; Encourages community and civic organizations, businesses and the general public to participate in the tournament.
Number of Members: 11
Meeting Requirement: Approximately 4x/year. 
Appointed by leadership. 

GRIEVANCE

Responsibilities include reviewing ethics complaints and arbitration requests to determine if a hearing before a Professional Standards hearing panel is warranted.  Members are appointed by the President, subject to confirmation by the Board of Directors, for consecutive three-year terms. 
Number of Members: 12
Meeting Requirement: Approximately 1 to 2x/year. 
The President appoints members to this committee based on NAR-recommended criteria.

INVESTMENT

Manage the investment policies and procedures as established and provide semi-annual reports to the Board of Directors.
Number of Members: Approximately 4-5
Meeting Requirement: Approximately 1 to 2x/year.

PUBLIC POLICY

Informs the leadership and membership of local and state legislative matters affecting the Williamsburg Area Association of REALTORS® jurisdiction; Represents the Association before the governing bodies with general policies established by the Board of Directors; Works to continually improve the quality and quantity of relationships with local, state and national policy makers that represent our jurisdiction; Works to increase the engagement of members and the public in the discussion of public policy issues that affect the real estate industry.

Meeting Requirement: Approximately 6 to 8x/year.

SOCIAL

Provides networking opportunities among all classes of membership in order to recruit and retain Association members; Provides opportunities for members to support local Williamsburg businesses and give back to the local community.

STRATEGIC PLANNING

Reviews existing strategic plan for WAAR and provides input to staff for revisions/updates, with approval by the board of directors.
